Academic Registration Information System

The Academic Registration Information System (ARIS) is an Information System designed to automate higher education students’ registry processes. ARIS is a web based system comprised of Admission, Academics and Accommodation modules, designed with a consistent interface which makes it easy to learn and use.

Its intended goals include:
    •  Automating overall management of student academic records from applications for admittance into academic programs to graduation.
    •  Facilitating the process of higher learning institutions to respond to current and future academic planning issues
    • Providing updated and current student information database.

Briefly, the description of ARIS can be expalined under three modules

Admissions
This module handles all matters related to admittance into various university programmes. When applicants submit applications forms, data are entered into the system. The system allows configuring admissions requirements for each academic program, including
    •   Available capacity in terms of number of students
    • Females upgrading factor if applicable
    •  Entry requirements for each academic program

Finally the system performs an automatic selection based on the provided information and produces a recommended list of the selected applicants for each academic program.

Accommodation
With accommodation, rooms’ allocation is done automatically as long as a student is registered in rooms’ aspirants list. The automatic processing will allocate accommodation to students, based on the configuration of vacancies and the registration of students.
After the automatic process, the system allows for editing the allocations if there is a need to do so and publish the allocations for students and other stakeholders.
This document provides the manual for the Academic Module of the ARIS. It contains enough information for the user to be able to work with Academic Module comfortably.

Academics

Academics module, handles all matters related to academics. This includes courses management, academic programs management, examinations etc.

Within this module: -
  • Students are able to register for courses in their respective academic programs and accessing their examination results.
  • Teaching staff are able to monitor students registered for the courses they are teaching. They can update students’ course work and register final examinations results.
  • Faculties and departments are able to monitor students in their faculties/departments. Approve examinations results submitted by course leaders.
  • Various reports including examination reports are made available at the user’s finger tips anytime, anywhere.
