Dr. Mussa M. Hans, Tanzanian Director of CI

Dr. Mussa M. Hans is a Senior Lecturer and Tanzanian Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Dar es Salaam. He holds a PhD in Kiswahili, a Master of Arts in Linguistics, and a Bachelor of Education specializing in Kiswahili and Education, all from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. His academic and professional expertise include the development of the Kiswahili language and its dialects, lexicography, translation, language policy, and intercultural communication. As the Tanzanian Director of the Confucius Institute, he plays a leading role in fostering academic, linguistic, and cultural cooperation between Tanzania and China. He is committed to promoting the teaching and learning of both Kiswahili and Chinese, strengthening mutual understanding between the peoples of the two nations, and advancing educational and cultural exchange through collaborative research, language programmes, and institutional partnerships. Dr Hans also serves as the Executive Director of the Global Association for Kiswahili Language. He has also served as Deputy Director and Chief Editor of the Mulika Journal at the Institute of Kiswahili Studies, University of Dar es Salaam. Email: hansmussa@udsm.ac.tz
