Gaudentia M. KABAKA
Former Minister in the Ministry of Labour and Employment

Gaudentia Mugosi Kabaka is an alumna of the University of Dar es Salaam, of the graduating class of 1980, who has played a significant role in Tanzania’s development processes first as a professional teacher and educator, then in educational management and administration and finally in the national politics of representation and national policy-making.

She was born on the 15th of April 1949 in Musoma district, Mara region, enrolling at Tegeruka Primary School in 1957 for primary education until 1960, when she passed her primary leaving examinations 


James L. KATEKA
Judge affiliated with the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS)

James Luta Kateka is an alumnus of the University of Dar es Salaam, having graduated in the 1973 class. He is a lawyer and diplomat with a long-service period as ambassador to a number of foreign countries and subsequently as a judge on international jurisdictional panels for a number of international issues of arbitration.

James was born on 29th April 1945 in Nyakahanga village in Karagwe district, Kagera region, and attended Nyakahanga Native Authority Primary School (1952-1955), before moving on to Mugeza N. A. Middle School in Bukoba, from 1956 to 1959. From there,
