Notable Staff who have Excelled in their Careers at National and International Levels

Several members have been appointed to various positions:
Prof. Sospeter Muhongo: He was posted to UNESCO office as a Director of International Council for Science, Regional Office for Africa. Prof Muhongo is the first recipient (2004) of the Robert Shackleton Award for outstanding research in the Precambrian Geology of Africa. He held the position of the Head of Department of Geology at the University of Dar es Salaam from 1997 to 2000. Currently he is a Member of Parliament and Minister of Energy and Minerals.

Prof. Makenya M. Maboko: He was the University of Dar es Salaam’s Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic, Research and Consultancy) from 2006 to 2014.He has also held different administrative posts in the University, such as Director of Undergraduate studies from 2003 to 2006, Associate Dean (Academic) from 1994- 2003, and Chief Editor of the Tanzania Journal of Science from 1997-1998.
Prof. Evelyn Mbede: She is the Director of Science and Technology in the Ministry Communication of Science and Technology since 2007. She also held a number of posts at the University of Dar es Salaam: the first female Dean to the Faculty of Science from 2006 - 2007 and Head of the Department of Geology from 2004- 2006.
Prof. Justinian R. Ikingura: He was the Director of Postgraduate Studies from April 2012 to March 2015.He was Principal of the College of Information and Communication Technologies. From 2004–2009 he served on the Inter-University Council of East Africa (IUCEA) as VicRes Project Regional Coordinator on the Impact of Mining and other Human Activities on Lake Victoria Wetlands.
