Dr. David C. Simiyu works as an  Lecturer in the Department of Botany, College of Natural and Applied Science of the University of Dar es Salaam. He holds a Bachelor of Education in Science degree from Mwenge Catholic University which was then a college of the St. Augustine University of Tanzania. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Applied Botany of the University of Dar es Salaam, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Applied Plant Sciences at Chonnam National University in South Korea. Mr. Simiyu is a researcher whose interests revolve around the fields of Plant Taxonomy, Plant Biotechnology, and Plant Tissue Culture. He is currently involved in developing methods to enhance secondary metabolites biosynthesis in medicinal plants, as well as optimizing protocols that will lead to efficient transformation and bioengineering of recalcitrant plants. He has disseminated his works through various channels including international journals and conferences.
