Research Interests: Analytical chemistry, environmental chemistry, material science and chemometrics

Projects:

  1. Preparation, characterization and applications of molecularly imprinted polymers (MIP) and other adsorbents for selective removal of water contaminants
  2. biomolecule indicators and lipophilic extractives in blue-green algae in relation to biotoxic metabolite production and contamination of freshwater bodies
  3. Analysis of chemical cellulose contaminants (i.e. lipophilic extractives) and their effects on the quality of chemical cellulose
  4. Investigation of the levels of aflatoxins in maize and maize products from selected Regions of Tanzania
  5. Formulation, Chemical Characterization and Performance Test of Water Based Drilling Mud from Local Materials Found in Tanzania. Implemented through UDSM Grant Award 2018.
  6. Bio-waste Materials as Viable Option for Renewable Energy, Sustainable Agriculture and Carbon Sequestration in Tanzania. Implemented through UDSM Grant Award 2020.
  7. Promoting STEM Education via Manufacturing Innovative Low Cost Equipment for Teaching Laboratories in Tanzania. Implemented through UDSM Grant Award 2020.
  8. A collaborating member in the consortium which is currently running an Africa Centre of Excellence for Water Management (ACEWM) hosted by the University of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, funded by World Bank; 2016 – 2020.
