On 20th June 2022, the College Principal, Prof. Stephen Oswald Maluka, launched the gender desk.

The gender desk at the College aims at creating and facilitating a safe environment for learning, teaching and working.

Speaking during the inaugural event, Prof. Maluka said that establishing the Gender Desk at DUCE is a Government directive through the Ministry of Community Development and Gender that requires all public institutions to establish gender desks. The desks will assist in administering issues related to gender-based violence.

In her welcoming note, the Coordinator of the Diversity Unit, Dr. Ikupa Moses Mwandambo, remarked that the gender desk is an entry point and a comfortable platform for managing all forms of sexual harassment at workplace.

Launching the gender desk is the initiative to reduce the effects of sexual harassment which likely to cause devastating physical and psychological injuries to the victims' health, confidence, morale and performance.
