1961

Faculty of Law was Established in temporary premises at Lumumba Street in theCity of Dar es Salaam

1964

Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences was established at Mlimani Campus (currently known as Mwl. J.K. NyerereMlimani Campus)

1965

Faculty of Science was established

1968

Faculty of Medicine was established out of Dar es Salaam Medical School

1969

Faculty of Agriculture was established inMorogoro Region

1970

University of Dar es Salaam was established as an autonomous University

1973

Faculty of Engineering was established

1978

The Institute of Marine Science was established in Zanzibar

1979

The Faculty of Commerce and Management was established out of the former
Department of Management and Administration

1982

The Institute of Resource Assessment was established out of BRALUP
Institute of Production Innovation waslegally established

1984

The Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Science was upgraded to
theSokoine University of Agriculture

1989

Faculty of Education was formed out of the former Department of Education

1991

The Faculty of Medicine was upgraded into the Muhimbili University College of
Health Sciences (MUCHS)

1996

The former Ardhi Institute was upgraded into the University College of Lands and Architectural Studies (UCLAS) as a constituent college of the University of Dar es Salaam

1999

Establishment of the University Computing Center (UCC)

2005

Establishment of Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE)
Faculty of Engineering was transformed into College of Engineering and
Technology (CoET)

2006

Establishment of Mkwawa University College of Education (MUCE)

2009

Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences was transformed into College of Arts and
Social Sciences (CASS) Faculty of Science was transformed into College of Natural and Applied Sciences (CoNAS)
Faculty of Education was transformed into School of Education (SoED)
University of Dar es Salaam Business School (UDBS) was established
School of Journalism and Mass Communication (SJMC) was established
Institute of Kiswahili Studies (IKS) was established

2011

Establishment of College of Information and Communication Technology
(CoICT)

2012

Faculty of Law was transformed into University of Dar es Salaam School of Law (UDSoL)

2013

College of Humanities (CoHU) and College of Social Sciences (CoSS)
wereformed after splitting CASS into two Colleges

2015

College of Agricultural Sciences and Fisheries Technology (CoAF) was
established School of Health Sciences (SoHS) was established
