About The Dean of Students Office

Office of the Dean of Students

The Office of Dean of Students (DoS) at the University of Dar-es-Salaam (UDSM) Main Campus is located in Yombo near the hall of residence 6, the office is entrusted by the University to undertake the welfare of students throughout the time they will stay in the university. The main goal is to help students reach their academic goals in a conducive environment through:

  • Provision of high-quality services that nurture students to engage in academic and social development.
  • Provision of adequate information to students that helps them to make a smooth transition in the university and beyond.
  • Responding to the needs of students by connecting them to numerous sources of information and/or services.

The Office is headed by the Dean of Students and deals primarily with the personal and social welfare aspects of the student’s life. The following facilities are provided by the office of the Dean of Students: Residence, games and sports, worship, student counseling help desk on various problems, and career guidance. The Dean of Students also assists the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration in student disciplinary matters.
