International Conference on Celebrating 50 Years of Adult Education in Tanzania (ICAET50)

Background

As we celebrate the 50 years of adult education in Tanzania and turn back to reflect on the success stories of the 1970s-1980s, it becomes clear that there are lessons to learn. As it was precisely put by Mwalimu Nyerere in 1964, we must educate adults because they are our immediate producers and their impact on our social and economic development is also instant.

Thus, the ICAET50 organising committee invites policy-makers, academicians, researchers, practitioners, government and political leaders, students and other stakeholders to send abstracts of their original papers through the given email address. The conference will be held from 28 th to 30th May, 2020 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania under the theme “Revitalizing Adult Education for Sustainable Development.”

Objectives of ICAET50

The goal of this conference is to deliberate on how to revamp national and international momentum for adult education in Tanzania. The conference will offer the opportunity to articulate adult education in harmony with various national and international policies such as Tanzania Development Vision 2025, Sustainable Industrial Development Policy for Tanzania (SIDP 1996-2020) and Sustainable Development Goals.
