The Dean of University School of Law wishes to inform the staff, the university community and the public that the Vice-Chancellor of University of Dar es Salaam has appointed Dr James Jesse to head the Private Law Department with effect from 26th February 2019. James Jesse is a lecturer at the School. Before joining the University of Dar es Salaam, Dr Jesse worked with the Tanzania Police Force at various positions. Dr Jesse is an experienced educator and practitioner in Human Rights Law, Land Law, Constitutional Law and Media Law. He holds a Bachelor degree (LL. B-1999), University of Dar es Salaam; Master of Laws (LL. M-2002), University of Dar es Salaam; Master of Laws (LL. M-2008), University of Notre Dame USA; and a Doctor of Philosophy Degree (Ph. D-2015), University of Dar es Salaam. The School's management takes this opportunity to congratulate Dr Jesse on this appointment.

At the same time, we extend our appreciation to Dr Baraka Kanyabuhinya, the outgoing Head of Department, for his commendable and tireless service, and dedication in guiding the Department - and the cooperation he has given us all during his stint as HoD. We wish him all the best, after having duly and effectively served the School to the utmost.

We wish both of them, Dr Jesse and Dr Kanyabuhinya, all the best.
