Dr. Colman Titus Msoka, PhD (2005), Sociologists, is a Senior Lecturer, Institute of Development Studies. He was a 2016/17 Fulbright Scholar in Residence at Whitworth University in Spokane, WA. Dr. Msoka who has twice served as Deputy Director, IDS was a visiting fellow at the University of Leipzig 2013; University of Helsinki 2014 and Cardiff University 2015. He has a background in Sociology, Development Studies and Demography; conducts studies in the areas that are at the intersection of society and development. He teaches Development Studies, Urban Development, States and Development as well as Research Methods. He has twice served as Queen’s Young Leaders Mentor 2016/17 and 2017/18 under the University of Cambridge Queens Young Leaders program. Dr. Msoka has served in the following research teams: Developing Development Studies in the South, RUBAFRIQUE network based in Cameroon, DFID-ESRC Growth Programme: Inclusive Growth: Improving Microfinance Regulation to Support Growth and Innovation in Micro-enterprise, Making Space for the Poor: Law, Rights, Regulation and Street-Trade in the 21st Century; UrbTan DANIDA; Solar Energy Project PITRO-UDSM. He has twice emerged as second and third winner of unit Research Award. Besides supervising MA and PhD students locally and internationally, Dr. Msoka is developing a fieldwork research safety protocol for researchers and their assistants in remote rural areas. Dr. Msoka has served in a number of University wide teams and committees.
