Edith W. Bwana (PhD) is a lecturer in the Department of Languages and Literature. She holds a PhD in Literature from the University of Dar es Salaam and an MA in African Linguistics and Literature from the University of Bayreuth, Germany. For the past ten years, she has been teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including courses such as African Women Writers, Research Methodology and Literary Theories. Her research interests include the depiction of race in Tanzanian literature, gender discourse in African fiction, as well as autobiographies and their reflection of social realities. She has published a number of papers in these fields and is currently working on a research project exploring the impact of German missionaries on the discourse of race in autobiographies by Tanzanian mixed-race children.
