Dr. Lilian V. Mtasingwa is a Lecturer in Development Studies with interests in Gender and Development, and Communication for Development. She has completed a PhD thesis on ‘Women’s Representation and Participation in the Local Government in Tanzania’.  Over the past ten years she has been actively involved in gender related researches. She has currently completed a research on investigating factors that limit and/or influences secondary adolescents’ girls to complete their education cycle (2018) under CVM/APA. She was recently involved in a project titled: SPRING a business incubator for driving product innovation to improve the lives of girls in poverty (2017) under the Futures Group Global Outreach Tanzania. In 2016 she was involved as a local researcher in a study titled: Development Outcomes of Local innovators funded by the International Development Innovation Network (IDIN) at MIT D-Lab. She also investigated youth sexual risk behaviours among youth in Mbeya, 2016, a research funded by Measure Evaluation, North Carolina, Chapel Hill and Tanzania. She reviewed the Anti-sexual harassment policy of the University of Dar es Salaam and was among the evaluators of the “We Can Campaign” under Oxfam Tanzania (2013). From 2012 to 2013, she was a member of a team which conducted a gender audit for the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU), Mzumbe University, and Iringa University College (IUO) under the project titled: Harmonization and Alignment of Business Studies in Higher Education in Tanzania (TIMBE). Since 2015/2016 to date, she is the external moderator and examiner of the Institute of Judicial Administration (IJA-Lushoto) and currently the coordinator of practical training at IDS.
