Makungu Marco Madirisha has been exposed to different disciplines of chemistry. His primary research focus revolves around geo-energy resources, mainly oil, gas, and geothermal energy. Specifically, he aims at understanding flow assurance problems such as corrosion, hydrates, and formation of fines /precipitates due to reservoir formation damage as a consequence of foreign fluid e.g stimulation fluid, drilling fluid, and workover fluid. Next to geo-energy resources, his research interest also focuses on the conversion of biomass into useful products (syngas, bio-oil, and biochar) and the development of engineering materials using clays and rocks minerals. His research on biomass and engineering materials aims to contribute to United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), in particular number 13 (climate action: target 13.1, 13.2, and 13.3), 11 (sustainable cities and communities), 12 (responsible consumption and production) and 9 (infrastructure).
