Prof. Lokina conducts research and consultancy in environmental, natural resources and social issues. He has done number of researches and consultancies work in the field of forestry, Fisheries and Mining. He has published extensively in Articles in Referred Journes, Books and Book Chapters. Has also produced numerous field  and consultancy reports.

Notable Momentous:

Study on the current allocation of Monitoring, Control and Surveillance (MCS) resource and place in the context of the national fisheries. 2005.

Study on the Establishment of the Mechanism for Payment of Water Environmental Service in Tanzania.

Conducting Cost-Benefit analysis of the Government’s projects, which were under the Millenium Challenge Compact (MCC).

Conducting a study on Integrated Ecosystem Assessment, which is a global initiative to protect the mountain ecosystem. 

Preparation of the State of the Coastal reports.

Project and programme reviews and evaluation on environment and natural resources management as well as information and knowledge management.

Conducting the Economic Valuation of the Ihefu Wetland an initiative under the Vice President Office (VPO) funded by UNEP.

Conducting a study on Poverty-Local Ecosystems Income Generation using Economic Instruments for Sustainable Utilization of Environmental Resources: the case of LaKe Victoria region Funded by UNDP/UNEP/POPC.

Study on Managing natural resources for sustainable growth and human development in Tanzania – the case of extractive industry. The study is one of the Background papers to feed into the preparation of Tanzania Human Development Report funded by UNDP/ESRF.
