The Directorate of Internationalization, Convocation and Advancement (DICA) at the University of Dar es Salaam invites interested staff and research students to submit abstracts for the GAPSYM19 International Conference, organized by the Ghent Africa Platform of the Ghent University Association (AUGent).
Now in its 19th edition, GAPSYM is a leading multidisciplinary symposium in the Belgian academic landscape, providing a unique platform for showcasing research conducted in collaboration with African partners. The 2026 conference, themed “Voices, Rights, Justice in Africa,” will be held on 8 December 2026 at De Krook, Ghent, Belgium. It is co-organized by the Ghent University Human Rights Research Network and the Conflict Research Group Ghent University.
The conference addresses pressing issues across the continent, including human rights, environmental justice, access to health and education, and legal systems. It encourages interdisciplinary and innovative approaches that contribute to policymaking, activism, and sustainable development in Africa.

- Human rights and justice
- Right to health and education
- Land and environmental rights
- Indigenous and linguistic rights
- Migration, climate risk, and socio-economic rights
- Inter- and trans-disciplinary approaches

- Abstracts should not exceed 500 words
