Dr. Qian Xu, Chinese Director of CI
Dr. Qian Xu is a senior scholar of Comparative Education at the Institute of International and Comparative Education, Zhejiang Normal University (ZJNU), China. She holds a PhD and a Master’s degree in Comparative Education and a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. For more than a decade, she has dedicated her academic career to the study of education in Tanzania and broader China Africa educational cooperation. Since first conducting research in Tanzania in 2015, she has established close academic ties with the University of Dar es Salaam and other educational institutions across East Africa. She served as a Visiting Scholar at the University of Dar es Salaam in both 2020 and 2022 to 2023, and worked as a World Bank consultant supporting education reform initiatives in Tanzania.
As the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute, Dr. Xu is committed to advancing excellence in Chinese language education, strengthening academic collaboration and research partnerships, and promoting mutual understanding and people to people exchanges between China and Tanzania. She looks forward to working closely with colleagues and partners to further enhance the role of the Confucius Institute as a bridge for educational and cultural cooperation between the two countries.
