Master of Arts in Development Studies
A candidate shall be deemed eligible for consideration for admission into a master’s degree in
Development Studies if they hold the following qualifications:
i. At least a second-class degree of the University of Dar es Salaam or an equivalent degree from a
recognised institution of higher learning. Candidates who hold an unclassified degree (e.g. M.D.)
should have at least B grade average in Development Studies.
ii. Candidates with a pass degree may also be considered for admission if:
a) their undergraduate performance in the proposed subject of study was B grade or higher; or b) they have satisfied the Institute of Development Studies with their academic potential through
subsequent research experience and /or additional training.
iii. Candidates with a coursework average of B+ or higher in specified postgraduate diplomas may upgrade to registration for a dissertation leading to a relevant master’s degree.
