Biography

Epafra Prosper Kiriho is a dedicated Assistant Nursing Officer with extensive professional experience in clinical nursing care, surgical services, and healthcare service management in Tanzania. He currently serves at the University of Dar es Salaam Hospital in Dar es Salaam, where he contributes to the delivery of quality healthcare services to patients through professional nursing care and clinical support. Epafra holds a Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery and has accumulated more than nine years of experience in the healthcare sector, during which he has remained committed to providing safe, compassionate, and high quality medical care to patients from diverse backgrounds.

 

Epafra obtained his Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery from Kulangwa School of Nursing and Midwifery in Dar es Salaam, graduating with excellent academic performance. He also holds a Certificate in Nursing and Midwifery from Korogwe School of Nursing and Midwifery in Tanga. His academic training provided him with a strong foundation in clinical nursing practice, maternal and child health, surgical nursing, and healthcare service management in accordance with national healthcare standards and professional ethics.

 

Throughout his career, Epafra has gained broad clinical experience while working in several healthcare facilities in Tanzania. He served at Meru District Hospital where he worked in the female ward providing nursing care to patients with medical and surgical conditions. During this period, he also worked in the Major Operating Theatre as a scrub nurse and surgical assistant, supporting surgeons during various procedures while maintaining strict surgical safety and infection prevention standards.

 

He later continued to expand his clinical experience at Usa River Health Centre in Arusha, where he worked as an Assistant Nursing Officer in the Major Operating Theatre. In this role, he was responsible for organizing a safe surgical environment, assisting surgeons during major operations, and ensuring effective coordination within the surgical team. His work required high levels of technical precision, clinical judgement, and teamwork in a demanding hospital setting.

 

Over the course of his professional career, Epafra has developed extensive competencies in multiple areas of healthcare service delivery. His experience includes supporting both major and minor surgical procedures, maternal and childbirth care, pediatric services, counseling, and family planning services. In addition to his clinical duties, he has also been entrusted with supervising junior healthcare staff, guiding them in maintaining professional standards, teamwork, and efficient patient care.

 

Epafra has also contributed to healthcare facility management as a member of the Health Management Team, where he participates in facility planning, budgeting discussions, and decision making processes aimed at improving service delivery and operational performance within the health facility.

 

He is passionate about continuous improvement in healthcare systems and strongly believes in adapting to modern medical practices and technological advancements in order to improve patient outcomes. His professional mission is to deliver healthcare services that are timely, effective, and grounded in empathy, dignity, and respect for human life.

 

Epafra is fluent in both Swahili and English, enabling him to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams. His ability to work collaboratively, solve clinical problems, and maintain professionalism under pressure has made him a reliable healthcare provider dedicated to improving the wellbeing of individuals and communities.

 

Driven by a strong commitment to professional growth, Epafra aspires to further advance his clinical knowledge and leadership skills while contributing to the strengthening of healthcare systems and the delivery of equitable and high quality healthcare services in Tanzania.
