VELENA ANIPENDA CLEMENCE

Biography

Ms. Velena Anipenda Clemence is an Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Public Law, University of Dar-es-Salaam School of Law (UDSoL). She holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) (2017) from Mzumbe University, and a Master of Laws (2023) from the University of Dar-es-Salaam. Ms. Clemence is also a holder of Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice (PGDLP) from the Law School of Tanzania. She is an Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania, a Member to the Tanganyika Law Society (TLS) and East African Law Society (EALS). Before Joining the University, Ms Clemence worked as an advocate at the Uphill Attorneys and Senior Associate at the Roman Attorneys in Litigations, Corporate and Compliance Departments respectively. She has handled legal compliance activities for business entities in Tanzania. Also, she has worked in family, children, divorce, trust organizing and probate related litigations. Thus, she is handling Juvenile Court litigations under the University’s Legal Aid Committee. 

Ms. Clemence is a member of the University’s Moot court Committee which is responsible for planning and organizing moot court competitions and competitors. Also, she is a member of the Research Group on Law, Society and Technology. Ms. Clemence is currently serving as the Timetable Coordinator of the School of Law. 

Research Interest

ICT and Media Law, Citizenship, Immigration, and Regional Integration Laws as related to sustainable development, Family Laws, Succession and Trust Laws, Labour Laws, and Commercial Arbitration Laws.

Projects

  1. Ms. Clemence conducted tracer study in Tanga Region for HEET Project in relation to law programs offered by the University between January and March 2023.
  2. Ms. Clemence was involved to conduct curriculum review for the University of Dar es Salaam School of Law courses 2023 – 2025.
