Biography

Dr. Janeth completed PhD studies on 30th May 2023 at University of Dar es Salaam, School of Education in the Department of Physical Education and Sport Sciences (Lecturer). Her graduated training was from University of Oslo where she obtained her Master of Philosophy in Special Needs Education (MPhil. SNE) in 2010 as well as from UDSM obtained Master of Arts in Applied Social Psychology (MAASP) in 2013. Then in 2007 she graduated with Bachelor of Education, Sports and Culture (BED. PESC - Honours) from the UDSM. She holds Diploma in Education (Biology and Chemistry Teaching Methods) from Dar es Salaam Teachers College in 2002. Dr. Mlay teaches undergraduates and postgraduates courses in Physical Education and Sport Sciences which are Motor Learning and Adapted Physical Education, Sports Medicine, Sport Safety and Injury Management, Theories and Methods of Sport Training, Gymnastics, Netball, Swimming and Life Saving, and Physical Education and Sports for Special Populations.

 Research interests are:

  • Motor Learning and Adapted Physical Education,
  • Sports (Swimming and Life Saving, Netball, Volleyball, Gymnastics, Goalball)
  • Mental Health through sports,
  • Counselling Issues,
  • Sports Psychology,
  • Children’s Development Studies (Play to Promote Learning)
  • Inclusive Physical Education and Sports
  • Adapted Sports (Disability Studies).
