Hassan is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Oslo in Norway, focusing on research in information systems. He earned both his master's and bachelor's degrees in computer science from the University of Dar es Salaam. He began his academic career as a tutorial assistant in 2009 and was promoted to assistant lecturer in 2017.
Since 2011, through his involvement with the UDSM-DHIS2 project, Hassan has played a key role in the development and support of health information systems, primarily for the Ministry of Health in Tanzania. This experience has also made him a valuable member of the DHIS2 community. Within this community, Hassan has contributed to the development and facilitation of the DHIS2 academy for English-speaking African countries. He holds Level 1 and 2 certificates from DHIS2 Academies in areas such as design and customization, data quality, analysis and use, and system integrations.
Hassan's research interests include exploring technology usage within organizations, the challenges and opportunities presented by digital innovations, and the influence of artificial intelligence on human life.

As a senior business and systems analyst, he assists ministries and departments with metadata configuration, data visualization, and analysis to support informed decision-making.
