Hassan Nyamwanga Mtahima is a Tutorial Assistant in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Business at the College of Agriculture and Food Technology, University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He is an early-career agricultural economist with training in agricultural economics, agribusiness and natural resource economics, and strong interests in applied, policy-relevant research.
He is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Agricultural Economics at Ataturk University, Turkey, under the competitive Türkiye Bursları (Government of Turkey Scholarship). He holds a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Natural Resources Economics and Business from the University of Dar es Salaam. His academic training emphasizes applied microeconomic analysis, quantitative methods and empirical research in agriculture and food systems.
Mr. Mtahima has participated in nationally and internationally funded research and development projects, including studies on horticulture farmers’ exposure to pesticides funded by Environment for Development (EfD–Sida), regional agribusiness export market analysis in the Great Lakes region and innovation initiatives supported by TU Berlin and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). His research interests include agricultural productivity and input utilization, agribusiness value chains, food security and agricultural policy, with a focus on smallholder farming and sustainable rural development in developing economies.
