Dr Michael Karani is a researcher and Lecturer at the Centre for Communication Studies, with over a decade of experience in higher education, currently serving as the Coordinator of the Humanities Research Centre at the University of Dar es Salaam. He holds a PhD in African Languages from Stellenbosch University, and his scholarly expertise is heavily anchored in linguistics and communication studies. His works focus on Maasai language documentation, as well as research in communication studies, particularly interpersonal communication and writing skills. Dr Karani spearheads international collaborations, including research projects funded by the French Embassy, the French-German Collaboration for Joint Projects (ANR-DFG), the European Research Council (ERC), the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), and the University of Toronto. He maintains a track record of peer-reviewed publications and prominent visiting fellowships at institutions such as Aix-Marseille University and Sorbonne Nouvelle University in France. Dr Karani also offers a wide range of consultancy services to the public and private sectors, including communication skills training and language services.
