Office of Undergraduate

The UDBS undergraduate studies unit carry its functions to meet the broader objectives of the University Directorate of Undergraduate Studies. At the School level, the unit is responsible for:-

  1. Coordinating undergraduate academic programmes of the UDBS to ensure that the students, clients and the Nation gets highest quality of returns.
  2. Compiling and preparing the list of all students from departments of UDBS to be awarded Degrees, Diplomas, Certificate or any other academic awards of UDSM for undergraduate programmes offered under UDBS.
  3. Preparing and submitting to the School Board through the appropriate organs for approval policies, plans and undergraduate academic programmes that promote academic excellence at UDBS.
  4. Coordinating the submission and approval by the School Board after consideration by relevant organs all the undergraduate academic programmes of the UDBS.
  5. Coordinating the submission to the School Board after consideration by relevant organs in departments of UDBS all the students to be admitted by UDSM for undergraduate programmes offered under UDBS.
  6. Acting as the school management’s adviser on matters relating to strategic, institutional and academic planning by departments including consequential changes in the non-academic areas, as well as academic resource models and provision.
  7. Reviewing and recommending to School organs for onward submission for all regulations covering various undergraduate academic programmes and examinations at UDBS.
  8. Compiling all cases from departments of UDBS that warrant appeal to senate for any irregularities occurring in the conduct of examination or compilation of examination results.
  9. Establishing a system that shall ensure that academic staff are available most of the time during office hours for students and peer consultation.
  10. Performing any other duties that may from time to time be assigned by the superior.
