Council Chair Ambassador Maajar Reaffirms Continuity in Visit to Former Chair Lubuva

The Chairperson of the University Council, Hon. Ambassador Mwanaidi Sinare Maajar, has reaffirmed the University’s commitment to continuity, institutional memory, and respect for leadership legacy during a courtesy visit to former Council Chairperson, Hon. Damian Z. Lubuva (Retired Judge) at his residence in Oysterbay, Dar es Salaam, on 15 January 2026.

The visit underscored the University’s deliberate effort to sustain strong engagement with past leaders whose stewardship has significantly shaped its governance and growth. Ambassador Maajar was accompanied by the University Chief Corporate Counsel and Secretary to the Council, Prof. Saudin Jacob Mwakaje.

Speaking during the visit, Ambassador Maajar emphasised that engaging former Council Chairpersons is a key pillar of good governance and strategic leadership. She noted that the University Council places high value on the contributions of past leaders and remains committed to building on the solid foundations they established.

“The University Council deeply recognises and appreciates the invaluable role played by leaders such as Hon. Justice Lubuva. Maintaining close engagement with former Council Chairpersons strengthens our institutional memory and ensures continuity as we advance the University’s strategic objectives and national mandate,” Ambassador Maajar said.

The delegation conveyed the Council’s goodwill while also updating Hon. Justice Lubuva on the University’s ongoing strategic developments and governance priorities.

Steady growth of the University 

Hon. Justice Lubuva warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for the visit, commending the Council and University management for the visible progress being achieved. He particularly praised the expansion and modernisation of infrastructure aimed at enhancing the quality of teaching, learning, and research.

“I am encouraged by the steady growth of the University and its continued investment in modern infrastructure that supports quality higher education. These developments reflect sound governance, effective oversight, and visionary leadership,” he remarked.

He further congratulated the Council and University leadership for sustaining positive momentum, underscoring the importance of continuity, prudent stewardship, and strategic oversight in advancing the institution’s mission.

The courtesy visit reaffirmed the University Council’s respect for its institutional history and its determination to build on the legacy of past leadership as it continues to pursue excellence in teaching, research, innovation, and community engagement.
