Currently there are five journals which are hosted by different departments although their editorial boards are composed of international researchers from Universities in Africa, Europe and United States of America.
The Department of Political Science and Public Administration runs The African Review which hosts intellectual discussions of politics, development and international affairs that have focus or impact on Africa.
This is hosted in the Department of Economics and is biannual review of the economy which combines the former Economics Research Bereau and the Department of Economics. The journal publisher’s articles which aim at providing a greater understanding of social-economic factors and process that influence and shape transformation of Tanzania economy and other developing countries.

The Department of Geography hosts the journal of Geographical Association of Tanzania at the University of Dar es Salaam. It publishes issues on Geographical knowledge, methodology in teaching research as well as application of modern geographical knowledge such as GIS and Climate change. The TJS is the new comer on the list of journals published at the University of Dar es Salaam and, indeed the first of its kind in the United Republic of Tanzania. The major impetus is to allow sociologists to contribute to the development of their respective countries’ development efforts as well as solving the emerging social problems.
