About Us

The Directorate of Social Services was established in the 232nd meeting of the University of Dar es Salaam Council held on 6th November 2015 where the new organization structure for central administration departments was approved. The Directorate of Social Services is Under the Deputy Vice Chancellor- Administration. The Directorate of Social Services provides integrated social services through the following units: the University Health Centre, Sport and Games Unit, Counselling Unit, National Health Insurance support and the auxiliary police.

To advance the provision of quality and excellent social services at the University of Dar es Salaam.

Main objective

  1. Oversee efficient and convenient provision of health services, sports and games, counselling services, health insurance services, security services to the University community and neighbourhood;

 

Activities done by the Directorate of Social Services

  • Overall coordination, promotion, monitoring and evaluation of preventive, curative and restorative health services to the University community;
  • Overall coordination, promotion, monitoring and evaluation of sports and games at the University;
  • Overall coordination, promotion, monitoring and evaluation of counselling services at the University;
  • Overall coordination, promotion, monitoring and evaluation of health insurance affairs at the University.
  • Supervise the provision of security at the University;
  • Develop and implement policies to promote health services, sports and games, counselling services and security at the University.
  • Processing requests for individuals/ groups or companies that intend to rent the University open spaces and sport facilities; and to
  • Processing requests for individuals/ groups or companies that intend to meet staff or both staff and students.
