The University of Dar es Salaam is co-chairing the national meeting of public education communicators which is held in Morogoro from 20th to 24th February, 2023.
The meeting, which is organised by the Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC) has brought together communication officers from different ministries, government agencies and local government authorities throughout the country.
In this important meeting which is held at Cate Hotel in Morogoro, apart from chairing the sessions, presentations and discussions, UDSM is also exhibiting and providing information about the services it offers such as postgraduate studies programmes, research and innovative systems and alumni services.
Speaking during the opening of this event earlier this week, the Deputy Minister for Information, Communication and Information Technology Hon. Eng. Kundo Mathew (MP) said the meeting was very vital to the communication officers and their respective offices as it aimed at improving efficiency in the government transparency initiatives and timely information sharing to the public.
"As communication experts, your role is to act as a bridge between the government and citizens. The courses and topics in this meeting therefore are very instrumental in helping you undertake your related functions", said Hon. Mathew.
He insisted that the government under H.E. President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan was committed to strengthening the communication and information sector for national development.
Meanwhile, the TBC Director General, Dr. Ayub Rioba said in this meeting whose attendance was about 150 participants, various training sessions which "are mostly practical-based" would be conducted to suit the requirements of participants and their organisations.
"The training sessions that will be offered in Morogoro include strategic communication, persuasive communication, editing, digital marketing, camera works, and ethics and governance, among others", said Dr. Rioba.
The UDSM Head of Communication and Marketing Unit, Dr. Dotto Kuhenga said the University communication team was well equipped to offer various useful information services to the meeting participants and everyone who would get an opportunity to visit their pavilion at Cate hotel, in Morogoro.
