UDSM to collaborate with two UAE Universities in Training, Research and Innovation

Early in March 2022, the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) established strong ties with two renowned universities in the United Arab Emirates with potential for collaboration in the areas of research, innovation, student exchange and scholarships. The fruitful talks were held between the UDSM management and two UAE universities namely Khalifa University and Mohamed Bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence.

Prof. David Mfinanga and Prof. Bernadeta Killian who are UDSM Deputy Vice Chancellors for Administration and Research respectively, visited the two universities to explore opportunities for collaboration in academics, innovation and other areas.  

“We had very productive discussions with the management of these universities. Khalifa University, for instance, is ready to offer us scholarship grants for up to ten PhD and Master of Science students on merit”, said Prof. Killian. She added that Khalifa University would like to offer such scholarships in the areas of science and engineering.

In addition, the two toured various high-tech research laboratories at Khalifa University and held discussion with university staff enabling exposure to state-of-the-art facilities and best practices in university and innovation management.

Mohamed Bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, which is also based in Dubai, is willing to collaborate with UDSM in the various areas of Artificial Intelligence. The University is also ready to offer scholarships in the area to candidates with a background in computer science, mathematics and engineering on competitive basis.
