Dr. Pazi Mwinyimvua Semili is a Principal Laboratory Scientist at the School of Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries Technology (SoAF), University of Dar es Salaam. He has 28 years working experience in microbiology, water quality, nutrition and food science since 1994, when he completed his first degree in Food Science and Technology, at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), Morogoro, Tanzania, and Master’s Degree in Applied Microbiology (2002), at the University of Dar es Salaam, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. During that period, Mr. Semili has been trained in the country and abroad professional courses related to plankton ecology and taxonomy, climate change, food science, human nutrition, microbiology, laboratory sciences, research methodology and scholarly writing. Also, Mr. Semili has been trained in water quality in relation to health implications. Working with University of Dar es Salaam, Mr. Semili has research interest in: plankton ecology and taxonomy, water quality in relation to health implications, fish processing and microbiology, human nutrition, and climate change.

APPOINTMENTS/PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES

2000–2002: Served as Member to the Agriculture and Food Processing Advisory Committee, Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA), Tanzania, as expert for preparing food processing learning manuals.

November 2008-October 2021: Appointed by the Minister for Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children as Board Member of Tanzania Food and Nutrition Center (TFNC).
