University of Dar es Salaam and the World Bank Group organized a High Level Forum at the University of Dar es Salaam 7, 2017.
The World Bank Chief Economist for Africa, Dr. Albert Zeufack presented a key message from the recently launched Africa’s Pulse biannual regional economic report on Africa by the World Bank Africa Region and discussed Tanzania’s growth performance and outlook from regional perspectives.
The presentation was followed up by two discussants Professor Michael Ndanshau from Economics Department, University of Dar es Salaam who spoke on the useful of the Africa Pulse reports to the University of Dar es Salaam Academia and Tanzania as a whole, and that Data and other nation examples provided by Dr. Zeufack can be used to reflect on Tanzania Context. Second Discussant was Professor Samuel Wangwe from REPOA who talked about productivity and investment as key to Tanzania development.
Opening the Forum was Ms. Bella Bird, World BANK Country Director for Tanzania, Malawi, Somalia and Burundi who emphasized on Water Resources and the importance of Water Management saying “Water is an Economic good and not just Social good” so there is an urgent need to improve water resources Management in Tanzania for development.
And closing the forum was Mr. Yutaka Yoshino, program leader and lead economist for Tanzania, Malawi, Somalia and Burundi who thanked the Speaker and Discussants for the their inputs and time. Also he acknowledges the relation that University of Dar es Salaam and The World Bank has and it’s impact on knowledge generation and capacity building.
