Brand Identity Statement

Brand Identity Statement Since the power of a strong brand identity can only be realised through consistent application over time, it is the University’s rule that the official Logo, signatures, and marks as described in this manual are the only sanctioned marks for use across the University.

  1. No other marks or symbols may be used or created to represent the University as a whole or any part without the approval of the Deputy Vice Chancellor-Research through the University Marketing Committee (UMC).
  2. The official Logo and marks in the brand identity manual are the ONLYsanctioned marks for use across the University. No other marks may be used or created in conjunction with or to replace the official University of Dar es Salaam sanctioned identity marks.
  3. All University Units must follow these standards and guidelines. By doing so, each unit will help the University of Dar es Salaam present a clear, consistent and coherent image of the University of Dar es Salaam to the public.
  4. Individuals External to the University This manual is intended primarily for use by the University of Dar es Salaam community. Any individuals, groups or companies external to the university wishing further information regarding the use of University of Dar es Salaam marks should contact the Directorate of Public Services (DPS).
  5. Design Approval is required from the DPS on all University of Dar es Salaam branded items. Contact DPS office at dps@udsm.ac.tz or call +255 22 2410714. In addition, in order to protect the UDSM name and reputation and to avoid liability, it is university policy that all UDSM branded merchandise must be obtained from the supplier who has entered into a trademark license agreement with the University.
  6. Individual members of University community are not allowed to use the University Logo and marks on their social media pages.
  7. Moreover, individual members of the University community are not allowed to create, develop or host social media accounts, online profiles, forum affiliate to the University of Dar es Salaam name or any of its marks without prior approval from the DVC-Research office.
  8. Alumni and international student groups must order all UDSM branded merchandise from a licensed supplier. The groups should channel their request through the Directorate of Internationalization, Convocation and Advancement by contacting the Director at dica@udsm.ac.tz or call +255 22 2410615
  9. University Logo and marks are only allowed (to be used) for official communications, events, occurrence, partnerships, sponsorship and similar related official manifestations.
