Njonjo Mfaume is an assistant lecturer at the University of Dar es Salaam’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication (UDSM-SJMC). He has over 15 years of experience as a media trainer, practitioner, and consultant. At SJMC, he teaches various journalism courses, including writing for the media; editing, layout and graphics; specialized reporting; advanced writing; journalism history and issues; online journalism; and sports journalism. Njonjo has also participated in several research projects within UDSM-SJMC and outside  as a coordinator, researcher or team member. 

Education-wise, he holds Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences, majoring in Political Sciences from the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU), a Post-Graduate Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Dar es Salaam, and a Master's Degree in Journalism and Communication from Makerere University.

Outside academia, he has been a Consulting Editor for Imaan Media since 2015, Chief Public Relations Officer of the Tanzania Muslim Professionals Association (TAMPRO) since 2020 and a columnist and contributor for several Swahili newspapers and news sites.
