Issa Noor Omary

Biography

Issa N. Omary is a researcher at the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), the United Republic of Tanzania. He holds a Master’s degree in Peace and Development Studies (with Distinction) from the Linnaeus University, Sweden. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Public Administration (First Class) from the University of Dar es Salaam. Currently, he is designated as Assistant Lecturer in Political Science, International Relations, and Peace Studies at the Department of Political Science and Public Administration, College of Social Sciences, UDSM.


At UDSM, he teaches such courses as Government and Politics in Tanzania (PS 113), International Relations 1 (PS 222), Civil Society and the State (PS 337), and Pan-African Thought and Practice 1 (AS 220 ). His research interests is around political economy analysis of the public policy process, drug control and enforcement, state-civil society relations, democratic peace theory, climate change diplomacy, and international cooperation. 

 

He has consulted a number of domestic and international organisations on various matters including but not limited to the Commonwealth Secretariat under the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (United Kingdom); the European Union (ESA) and Altair, the Eastern and Southern Africa Commission on Drugs (ESACD) under ENACT Project; UN-WOMEN; UNICEF; Child Frontiers; the American Bar Association (ABA-ROLI) and the East African Network for Universities Law Clinic (ENULAC) as an expert in International Relations; Friedrich-Ebert Stiftung (FES) Tanzania; Tanzania Centre for Democracy (TCD); Tanzania Gender Networking Programme (TGNP); University of Dar es Salaam; Research and Education for Democracy (REDET); and African Political Parties Database Project (Tanzania Team).


He previously received a number of scholarships to pursue postgraduate studies abroad including the prestigious Master’s (LLM/MPhil) in Human Rights and Democratisation in Africa (2020) at the Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria, South Africa. However, because of pressing work commitments at UDSM and the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, he dropped out of the programme.

Research Interest

My research interests is around political economy analysis of the public policy process, drug control and enforcement, state-civil society relations, democratic peace theory, climate change diplomacy, and international cooperation.

    A consultant is thus required to carry out the
    translation from English to Swahili of:
    - (1) Training Manual on COP-PCVE
    - (2) Training Curriculum on COP-PCVE


    Including copyediting, review, corrections of any
    mis-translations and any other requirements to
    ensure that no meaning is lost from the translation
    of the documents from one language to the other.
    The clarity and sense of the Swahili version of the
    documents must be checked and verified by the
    Tanzania Police Force (TPF) prior to printing.
