Dr. Joseph Y. N. Philip (PhD) is a Senior Lecturer in the Chemistry Department. He holds an MSc conferred at the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania; Licentiate in Engineering conferred at the University of Lund, Sweden; and a PhD conferred at the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
His research interests include: Remedial methods for fluoridated domestic water sources. Molecular imprinting technology. Hydrochemistry of salt lakes. Use of CNSL components as monomers for molecularly imprinted polymers. The production of porcelain tiles using Tanzanian raw materials. Metal corrosion and corrosion inhibition by natural products based materials and polymer coatings. Environmental issues: heavy metals in deposited dust; assessment of heavy metals in cosmetics; Remediation of heavy metal contamination in aqueous systems using natural product based polymers.
Since 2010 he has supervised 20 postgraduate students and has published a number of papers in local and international journals
