This week, the College Management conducted a stakeholders’ validation workshop of the College programmes. The workshop team comprised internal and external experts. The validating workshop involved reviewing of the course content and their relevance, revisiting collaborations with professionals, networking with industrial linkage for job opportunities and other insights regarding career outcomes.

Providing a brief note, the Deputy Principal (Planning, Finance, and Administration), Prof. Method Semiono said in efforts to promote human resources and enhancing graduates’ employability, several courses were developed, and new courses were created with the support of the HEET project.

Speaking during the opening session, the College Principal, Prof. Stephen Maluka, provided a brief overview of the College. He stated that, DUCE as a constituent College of the University of Dar es Salaam possesses a semi-autonomous status that grants it a degree of self-governance, although its programmes are fully managed by the University of Dar es Salaam. He further noted that the main objective of the workshop was to explore stakeholders' opinions that could be utilized to strengthen programmes, thereby enabling them to contribute to the socio-economic development of the country.

In such a working session, six programmes were reviewed by teams of professionals of particular fields. These programmes are Master of Science in Industrial Chemistry, Master of Science in Environmental Biology, Master of Arts in Development Evaluation, Bachelor of Arts in Disaster Risk Management, Bachelor of Education in Special Needs and Inclusive Education (BEDSNIE), and Teacher Continuous Professional Development Programme (TPCD).
