Welcome to the Department of Educational Foundations, Management and Lifelong Learning (EFML)

EFML is one of the two major departments of the Faculty of Education at Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE) which is one of the leading providers of teacher education programmes in the country. The department has specialty in the areas of Educational Management, Educational Leadership and Policy, Educational Foundations and Lifelong Learning, and we offer both undergraduate and post-graduate programmes.

We particularly offer courses such as Principles of Education, Philosophy of Education, Sociology of Education, Comparative Education, Professionalism and Ethics in Education, Management of Education and School Administration, School Governance, Administrative and Organization Behaviour in Education, Educational Policy, Planning and Financing, Human Resource Management and Development in Education, and other related courses.

Currently, the department has 21 academic staff who facilitate the above mentioned courses to more than 5000 students each year. Our range of courses aim at producing well-rounded and competent graduates with up-to-date professional knowledge and skills who pursue their career as professional teachers, educational managers, leaders, educational policy makers and researchers.
