The College Library

Welcome to DUCE Library's website, a gateway to our resources and great services.   The Library is dedicated to provision of comprehensive resources and services in support of the teaching, research, consultancy and learning needs of the College community. I encourage you to take full advantage of the resources and services offered by our Library. The College Management and Professional Library staff are striving to make the Library a quiet, comfortable, and conducive areas for personal study, as well as common areas for group study and collaboration, and access to electronic resources. We are also continually working to improve users' information literacy skills; provision of reference services, circulation services and facilitation of orientation programs to help students to better understand the role of the library in their quest for information.

Our Library collections covers major disciplines of natural sciences, humanities and social sciences, education, and Laboratory science and technology.

New PhD Award in the Library

Paulina Nyangoma Kayungi who works in the College Library was awarded a PhD, from the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM). Her research tittled “ The practice of depositing and utilising institutional repository content in selected Tanzania universities". After this award, Dr Kayungi is currently serving as Lecturer/Librarian in the College Library. Previously, she was serving as Assistant Lecturer/Librarian. She is known for her humble character, commitment and hardworking to work. The College Library congratulates Dr Kayungi and wishes the best for her new academic life at the College Library and beyond.

 

BEST WORKERS OF THE YEAR (2023)

Principal of the Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE), Prof. Stephen Oswald Maluka, has the pleasure to announce the College’s overall Best Worker

Mr. Mulamula is an employee of the College Library serving as Senior Library Assistant II. He was employed in July 2009. Mr. Mulamula is known for his humble character, hardworking and commitment to work.

  1. In all his pursuits, he has always maintained high standards of professional honesty and integrity.
  2. Mr. Mulamula played a key role in the establishment of Library Binding Unit. He was the one who gave the idea to establish the Unit and played a significant role in its establishment.   3. TheUnit was established in April 2022 to assist in repairing and maintaining Library printed resources. Since its establishment, the Unit under Mr. Mulamula’s supervision has repaired more than 500 books.
  4. The Unit has greatly cut down the College budget for book repair, which was formally done by outside vendors. Therefore, Mr. Mulamula has enabled the College to save funds that the College would have incurred in binding the library material elsewhere.
