Dr Goodluck Kiwory

GOODLUCK KIWORY (Dr. Jur.) PROFILE

Goodluck Kiwory is a lecturer at the Department of Private Law. He has a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) (Hons) - 2007, Master of Laws (LLM) – 2010 both from the University of Dar es Salaam, and Doctor of Laws (Dr. Juris.) -2018 from the University of Bayreuth –Federal Republic of Germany. Dr. Kiwory worked as a Senior Legal Officer at Maruma & Company Advocates for two years (2007 – 2009) before taking up a teaching post at the University of Dar es Salaam School of Law.  He is involved in teaching Human Rights Law, Constitutional Law, Civil Procedure, Law of Succession and Trusts, Legal History, Land Law and Law of Contract for Postgraduate and Bachelor of Laws (LLB) students. Currently, his research interests are in the areas of Natural Resources Law and Governance, Oil and Gas Law, Energy Security and International Investment Law.

Dr. Kiwory has participated in prestigious local and international training on diverse issues to wit;

2014- International Business Transactions Negotiation and Drafting- Kigali Rwanda under the auspice of the East African Development Bank (EADB)

2012: Legal Issues Related to the Implementation of International Environmental and Climate Law in Tanzanian in order to Mitigate Biodiversity Loss and Climate Change, With Focus on the Implementation of National REED+ Strategy, University of Dar es Salaam School of Law and Faculty of Law of The University of Oslo

2010: Training of the Institutions of the European Union in relation to Promotion and Protection of Fundamental Rights and Freedom provided for under the European Convection of Human Rights. University of Bayreuth - Germany

2009: Certificate in Trade data retrieval and analysis, Trade and development, Growth, Globalization and World Trade- General Trends, Trade Policy Reforms and Exports in LDCs, International Trade Law and Leadership in International Trade matters, and trade negotiations, Eastern and Southern Africa Management Institute [ESAMI] Arusha, Tanzania.

Dr. Kiwory is an Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania and courts subordinate thereto and an active member of the Tanganyika Law Society, Extractive Industry Transparency Initiatives (EITI) and the Natural Resources Governance Institute (NRGI)

Dr. Kiwory worked as a consultant to WWF- Authorised Association Consortium (AAC) (2013 - 2016) where he drafted and reviewed contracts and offered legal and regulatory advice and represented them in the High Court of Tanzania (Commercial Division) in respect of five cases.
