Helen KIJO BISIMBA

Helen Kijo-Bisimba, a household name in the field of advocacy and defence of human rights in Tanzania and East Africa, is an alumna of the University of Dar es Salaam, where she graduated in the class of 1985.

She was born in Moshi district, Kilimanjaro region, on 10thth October 1954 and had her primary school education in her home village. From there, she was admitted to Weruweru Girls’ Secondary School for four years of ordinary secondary education (1969 to 1972). From Weruweru she proceeded to advanced 


Jabiri Kuwe BAKARI

Jabiri Kuwe Bakari, current Director General of the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority, is our UDSM’s ‘Alumnus of the Month’. He belongs to the University’s graduating class of 1996 in the-then Faculty of Science. The University had previously inaugurated a department of Informatics and Communication Technology (ICT) to train the young brains who would keep pace with world developments in the 21st Century and Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) in connection with a ‘massive’ convergence of technologies in the physical, digital and biological domains that were bound to alter the
